A lot of things are happening right now in my life and the lives of those around me. I am about to graduate with the PC class of 2010, but those who are close to me are struggling and it hurts to see them like that. My fiances grandmother is not doing very well, and I pray that God will work in the lives of the family and let his will be done in the situation. I am scared bc there is nothing I can say to make the family feel like everything will be ok. I feel like I should be the comforter, but I am at a loss for words. I also pray that God will give the words to say or the actions I need to do. Keep the Raney family in your prayers.

My favorite character has been Mama out of Raisin in the Sun. She reminds me a lot of my grandma. My grandma is who keeps our family united. She is always there when you need her and she knows best. Just like in this play Mama is the person the family leans on, she is their lean post. Mama was also very loving and forgiving and I love that about a person. She was constantly concerned with what was going on with her family and I think that every family needs a person like that, someone who really cares about them and has their best interest in mind. The picture to the right shows where Mama was worried about Walter and the choices he was making.

We have read a few plays in Dramatic Literature and my favorite is "The Importance of Being Ernest". This play was funny and wasn't really sad at all. I also liked how it was easier to act out this play and fun to act out at the same time. I liked how Emma and I got to play parts together and act like true friends. I also liked the comedy that made fun of things we would not expect to be made fun of. It was just an all in all fun play to read and act out. This Picture shows Gwendolen, played by Emma, and Cecily played by the one and only me.

Prom was a lot of fun. I missed my man a lot and wished he could be there, but I still had a lot of fun going with the person I went with. We, as in me and 3 other friends, didn't get to our houses till about 6-6:30ish. We were really tired on Sunday. I slept for 2 1/2 hours, then went to church, then went to work. I was really worn out. I felt sorry for my customers at work, they probably thought I was terrible at my job, but o well it happens. Anyways just wanted to say Prom was a lot of fun. Tata for now.

So Prom is in like 3 days and I am so excited. I love getting all prettied up and looking pretty. Plus prom is just fun, you stay out til all hours in the morning and you just get to hang out with friends and spoil yourself a little. I can't wait til saturday.

Today I changed my background again, because it reminded me of spring, and my favorite color is blue, and butterflies are fun and springy little things. It also makes me really excited that spring is here, because not only is it my favorite season, but it also means summer is coming and I am graduating soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Inability to Make Meaningful Human Connections

I chose a picture of the door because Beatrice shuts out the outside world on a lot of things. She also does this literally by covering the windows of the house with newspaper so no one can see in. She shuts out the world through fear of being made fun of again. She even tries to keep her daughters from having any contact with the outside by keeping them home from school. She doesn't like them to go places. Nanny is also unable to have good human connections because she can't hear or see very well anymore, so she just walks around or sits all of the time and she never talks.

Life Versus Death

This picture represents life and death. One flower is dead and the other is alive, obviously. There's a lot of death feelings in the play. Nanny walks around and is called the walking corpse. Beatrice makes her house to look like nothing interesting, she puts up papers so the outside world can't see in, there are papers on the floor, crap all over the place, and she kills Peter the rabbit. She also belittles her daughter and puts them down about everything, which kills their spirits and could have killed their drive to go on. Tillie is the one person in the family who can see life in objects and good in things. She plants the marigolds and makes wonderful creations, and in turn it wins her the Science fair.

Dreams

This picture to me represents Beatrice's dreams. She had dreams to open a tea shop and that never happened for her, so her dreams were broken. Beatrice has a dream, while sleeping, about her father and in the dreams her father is in a vegetable wagon and appears to be very disappointed to her. Ruth however has actual dreams. She has nightmares about the time when she walked in on Mr. Mayo killing himself. The event caused her to go into a depression and she had a nervous breakdown. The nightmares she has brings on seizures. Tillie has dreams to finish with her discoveries. Tillie finds good in the world and this is what she bases her dreams to come true on.

Self- Image

This pricture shows how others might see you as small and not capable of much, but in the mirror you see a lot of potential in yourself and not give into what others see around you. This picture reminds me of Tillie. If the picture was swapped it would remind me of Ruth and Beatrice. Ruth and Beatrice tend to care a lot about what others are thinking of them. They are always "trying" to look their best in front of others. Ruth puts on a lot of makeup and wears tight clothing everyday to school, to impress others. Ruth is always trying to fit in at school. Tillie on the other hand is completely different. She doesn't care what people think about her at all. She was made fun of in front of the entire school about how she looked and it didn't bother her, she just kept on doing what she wanted to. She didn't let what they said bother her, but to Ruth it was very embarrassing and many times she thought of Tillie as an embarrassment. Tillie doesn't try to fit in with the kids at school, she stays true to who she is. Beatrice tells us in the play that she was very popular in school, but we come to find out towards the end that she wasn't popular at all and actually she was made fun of a lot. This is probably the reason or cause of why she always had the need to feel in as well and Ruth has just learned this from her mother.

Triumph in Adversity

This picture shows how the bird triumps over a snake. Snakes usually eat birds and demolish them, but this picture shows how the beautiful bird came out alive and has control over its own life. This represents Tillie, because she is the only one who can see that good will come out of her life and she sees the good in life. Beatrice has been through many hard times and trials in her life and she has just let them take over her and conquer her instead of learning from them and becoming someone new and better from them. She becomes way to bitter to allow good things to happen in her life and when good things come her way she somehow brings out the negative. To her everything has become negative and nothing is good anymore. Tillie however is a strong young girl who won't let anyone knock her down. She gets a lot of crap from others at her school, but she continues to go on with her life and becomes a fighter and sees the good in the smallest things, like the atom.

I changed my background because on Spring Break the marching band went to Florida to Disney World and we got to see Mickey and Minnie and it was tons of fun. I had a blast.

Last night I received a phone call from a member of the Pike County Community Foundation and I earned the Petersburg High School Class of 1959 scholarship. I am excited because the more money I can earn or receive for college the better off I will be. I want to congratulate Tanner for earning/ receiving the Lily. Way to go, you deserve it and congratulations to Jessey as well. All of this scholarship stuff is reminding me of how close college is coming and how close my life is really about to begin as an adult. Not sure I am ready for that. LOL, but I guess you have to start sometime.

I chose this picture because I love dogs and horses. This picture to me also resembles friendship and friendship is very important to me, so this picture has a double meaning. I put friendship before a lot of things in my life. Not only does this picture remind me of friendship with my friends but the "friendship" you can have with your animals. Animals can teach you a lot and believe or not they can get you through hard times in your life. I love animals.

To me this picture represents a lot of ideas. I look at it and think of what Jesus did for me. It reminds me that he paid the price for me and that one day I will be with Him in Heaven. It helps me remember that all things are possible with His help. So when times are hard in my life I can turn to Him and ask for help. I am a christian and religion or my belief in God is very important to me. This is just my opinion, but I love this picture.

This is a Pediatric Nurse helping a child in the hospital. This picture describes me because this is the career I am choosing to pursue. I have always wanted to work in the medical field, and working with children really makes me happy, plus children are funny and fun to be around. this picture represents the kind of nurse I want to be, because she looks very happy with her job and the little boy looks happy too. I want to be a good nurse and make children smile. :)

I put this picture on my blog because I love music and the color pink. Music has a lot to do with my life. I am in the marching band, pep band, and concert band. I also love just listening to music. I listen to music every night before I go to bed, in the car, sing in the shower, ect. Music makes me think of the good and the bad times in my life. When I am feeling upset I listen to upbeat and peppy music and it puts me in a better mood, and sometimes I listen to music to remember things that happened in my life and people who are gone and aren't there anymore. Music is an amazing form of expression.

Well, it's tuesday!!

So yesterday I worked til about 9:30pm and now I don't work until Friday. I am going to have some time to finish up scholarships, but at the same time I need to work because I need the money for Spring Break. I can't wait til Spring Break, we are going to Florida with the marching band. I am SOOOOO excited. Spring Break is going to be a lot of fun.
